Political parties in Coimbatore have raised questions over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process after a former district collector’s name was found in the latest final electoral roll.
According to the final voter list released for Coimbatore district, the name of former collector Kranthikumar—who served in Coimbatore from 2023 to 2025—continues to appear under the Collector’s bungalow address in the Coimbatore South constituency.
The report notes that a Tamil Nadu Housing Board apartment block behind the Collector’s bungalow in the Race Course area was demolished due to its poor condition, and residents were shifted to a housing area in Goundampalayam. Their votes have been included in the Goundampalayam constituency.
However, the former collector’s name is still present in the Coimbatore South roll even though he was transferred about a year ago. After serving at the Chennai Secretariat, he is currently working as Deputy Director at the IAS training centre in Mussoorie.
Political parties said the presence of his name at the district election officer’s residential address raises serious doubts about how the SIR exercise was carried out.
