President Droupadi Murmu has issued an order appointing Harivansh Narayan Singh, who served as Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, as a nominated Member of Parliament.
Harivansh held the Deputy Chairman’s post from August 11, 2022. He is associated with the Janata Dal (United) and represented Bihar in the Upper House.
His term ended on April 9. The Janata Dal (United) did not offer him another opportunity to return as a Rajya Sabha MP through the party.
With the nomination, Harivansh’s return to the Rajya Sabha is now confirmed. This has also sparked expectations over whether he could again take charge as Deputy Chairman.
