VCK president Thol. Thirumavalavan on Wednesday said his “tight bond” with DMK leader and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin stems from a clear political objective: ensuring the BJP does not gain ground in Tamil Nadu.
Speaking at election campaign meetings in support of VCK candidate Malathi in Kallakurichi constituency—held at Nainarpalayam, Periyasiruvathur and Thenkeeranur—Thirumavalavan praised the DMK government’s five-year record, claiming its initiatives have drawn appreciation at the national level and are being emulated by other states.
He also attacked the AIADMK for aligning with the BJP, recalling that late Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa had described tying up with the BJP as a major mistake and had publicly asserted that the AIADMK would not ally with the party. Thirumavalavan alleged that if AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami were to win, the BJP would sideline him and effectively take control.
Thirumavalavan further claimed the BJP is gradually attempting to “swallow” the AIADMK, and argued that Stalin has built a strong alliance with a long-term view to prevent the BJP from establishing itself in the state. Calling the election a contest between “regressive” and “progressive” forces rather than a simple DMK-AIADMK fight, he urged voters to strengthen Stalin’s hand by electing Malathi on the ‘pot’ symbol.
