The Election Commission has relieved Sandeep Mittal from the post of Director General of Police (DGP) of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) in Tamil Nadu.

The decision comes as the state prepares for the Tamil Nadu Assembly election scheduled for April 23. In the run-up to polling, several key officials—including the Chief Secretary, DGP, Home Secretary, Chennai Police Commissioner, and multiple district Collectors and SPs—were transferred.

As part of the reshuffle, Davidson Devasirvadham had recently been moved out of the DVAC DGP role and Sandeep Mittal was appointed in his place, taking charge immediately. The DMK later raised objections and submitted a complaint to the Election Commission.

Following the Commission’s order, Mittal has now been posted as DGP of the Armed Police. With this change, Davidson Devasirvadham will continue again as the DVAC DGP.
