The yet-to-release film Jananayakan, starring actor and TVK leader Vijay, has reportedly been leaked in full on the Telegram app, creating a stir across Tamil Nadu.
The film has been facing multiple hurdles ahead of its planned release, and the leak has now raised questions over whether it was a deliberate move aimed at influencing the political climate or an act of piracy for personal gain. Authorities are said to be looking into how the content was circulated.
Vijay’s party functionaries have alleged that certain scenes were spread on social media by DMK members. In response, the film’s team has warned that sharing the film or its clips online will invite legal action.
The Tamil Film Producers Council and the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce have sent a complaint to the Tamil Nadu Director General of Police, seeking action against those who shared the film footage. Separately, the film has also drawn criticism, with allegations that it portrays Muslims as terrorists, similar to claims earlier raised about Vijay’s films Thuppakki and Beast.
