VIKRAVANDI: Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) president Thol. Thirumavalavan on Friday claimed that if the AIADMK “accidentally” forms the government in Tamil Nadu, the BJP could take control of the administration within six months and even install a BJP chief minister.
Campaigning in the Vikravandi constituency in support of DMK candidate Anniyur Siva, Thirumavalavan said a vote for the AIADMK’s ‘two leaves’ symbol would effectively be a vote for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He alleged that the AIADMK was now under the BJP’s influence and that an AIADMK victory would help the BJP expand in the state.
He further warned that if the AIADMK were to win over 100 seats, the BJP could “turn Tamil Nadu politics upside down”. He claimed the BJP could dissolve or destabilise the government and suggested that leaders such as H. Raja or K. Annamalai could be made chief minister, while adding that political moves after elections could differ from pre-poll expectations.
Thirumavalavan also urged voters not to let votes “split” towards the ‘Whistle’ side, saying whistling had no place in legislatures and remarking that those who whistle should be sent to cinema theatres. He reiterated that VCK’s continued presence in the DMK alliance was rooted in ideology, and said VCK’s electoral wins had helped it gain recognition as a political party, crediting the DMK’s support for that standing.
