Coimbatore remarks
Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai on Saturday claimed that the DMK would not return to power in the state. Speaking to reporters in Coimbatore, he also predicted that the party could split after the elections.
Split prediction and internal equations
Annamalai said that if the DMK loses, it could break into separate factions led by Chief Minister M K Stalin and MP Kanimozhi. He added that it would be unclear which side the party would ultimately align with, and suggested that minister Senthil Balaji would have to decide which camp to join.
Corruption complaint and demand for action
He said he had submitted complaints to the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption department alleging corruption by DMK leaders, citing claims related to minister Gandhi and stating that he had provided supporting evidence. Annamalai said a DVAC DSP questioned him at the BJP office but alleged that no further action was taken.
Other allegations and campaign speech
On the issue of actor Vijay’s film Janagan being leaked online, Annamalai said linking Union minister L Murugan to the matter was “the height of hatred.” In a separate campaign speech at Kangeyam, he claimed that 8,000 murders and 31,900 POCSO cases were recorded in the last five years, and criticised DMK leaders while also praising the Centre’s steps to prevent the Gulf war from affecting India.
