Banana blossom, often used for making kootu, can also be turned into a crunchy pakoda that the source says tastes even better than regular onion pakoda.
Ingredients
- 1 banana blossom (cleaned)
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp gram flour (besan)
- 1 tsp rice flour
- 1 tsp corn flour
- 1/2 tsp pepper powder
- Salt, as needed
- Oil, for deep frying
Method
Clean the banana blossom and keep it in a bowl. Add chilli powder, turmeric, pepper powder, ginger-garlic paste, gram flour, rice flour and corn flour, then add a little water and mix into a thick batter.
Heat oil in a pan. Take small portions of the mixture and drop them into hot oil, frying until the pakodas are well cooked and crisp.
Remove once they reach pakoda texture and drain. The source suggests serving it in the evening, and says it tastes great with tomato sauce.
