Congress MP Manickam Tagore on Friday alleged that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had a role in the illegal online release of the film Janayagan. He made the remarks while speaking in Sattur.

Tagore said the unauthorised release of the movie on the internet was a development that could shake the Indian film industry. He claimed the act was carried out to destabilise the activities of TVK leader Vijay and to issue threats.

He further alleged that Shah wanted to keep the entire film industry under his control. According to him, the intention was to ensure that no films are made against the BJP’s ideology.

Tagore also claimed that around 50 lakh people had watched Janayagan and alleged that the BJP’s objective was to create confusion in Tamil Nadu politics.
