Union Minister and BJP’s in-charge for Tamil Nadu, Piyush Goyal, on Saturday said the ongoing election is a “change election” and that the state is seeking a new direction.
Speaking to reporters at Madurai airport, Goyal alleged that people of Tamil Nadu would not accept Udhayanidhi as Chief Minister. He said Udhayanidhi’s remarks had hurt public sentiments and claimed he did not respect Tamil culture and Tamil women.
Goyal said it was time for the DMK government to step down. He also asserted that a “good government” would be formed under AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS), with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance and support.
Referring to Ram Srinivasan, Goyal said he was a popular figure in Madurai and that he had learned of strong public reception and support for him. He reiterated that the election signalled a desire for change in Tamil Nadu.
