Chennai: All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge for Tamil Nadu, Girish Chodankar, said Rahul Gandhi is expected to campaign in the state soon.

He was speaking after a meeting at Sathyamurthy Bhavan in Chennai, where the party released its election campaign song and held consultations with central observers for constituencies where Congress candidates are contesting. Observers including Mukul Wasnik and Chodankar attended the discussions.

Chodankar said the schedule for Delhi-based Congress leaders campaigning in Tamil Nadu would be announced shortly. He noted that Rahul Gandhi could not participate earlier due to Parliament sessions in Delhi, but would allocate time and take up campaigning soon.

Responding to questions on political alignments, Chodankar said Congress members were not on actor Vijay’s side and that “true Congress workers” would stand with the party. He also said Rahul Gandhi had no dissatisfaction with the DMK-Congress alliance.
