Actor-turned-politician Vijay is contesting the Trichy East Assembly constituency as the leader of TVK. He faces the DMK’s sitting MLA Inigo Irudayaraj and the AIADMK candidate Rajasekaran, a college chairman.

According to local accounts, both the DMK and AIADMK candidates are campaigning intensively, moving street-to-street from early morning to late night. Their teams are said to be visible across the constituency through the day.

In contrast, TVK workers claim the campaign on their side has been limited, especially in the evenings, with only a small group participating. They also allege that the public response to their outreach has been muted.

A key concern raised by TVK functionaries is the lack of organisational appointments in the constituency, with no district or local-level office-bearers named so far. They further say even the election office has not been run in a sustained manner, leading to fears within the party that Vijay’s prospects in Trichy East could weaken if the situation continues.
