In Vellore district, the AIADMK is contesting the Vellore, Anaicut, Katpadi and Gudiyatham constituencies.
A senior AIADMK functionary has alleged that Minister Velu is working to ensure a DMK victory in the district by using multiple strategies, including holding confidential talks with leaders from alliance parties such as the PMK.
According to the AIADMK leader, the focus of the alleged outreach was on the Anaicut and Katpadi constituencies, where the PMK has a significant vote base. The claim is that efforts were made to ensure this vote bank does not move towards the AIADMK-led alliance.
The AIADMK functionary further alleged that, through a former PMK MLA said to be close to Velu, PMK office-bearers were approached with messages related to election spending and distribution, and that gifts were also provided to the intermediary.
