NAGERCOIL: TVK leader Vijay, campaigning in Kanyakumari, said his party would design a system to ensure government welfare schemes reach the doorstep of every family.
Addressing a roadshow in support of TVK candidates, he alleged that routine work in government offices often gets delayed due to bribery and called such practices “harassment”. He claimed bribe money does not stop with officials and said the system must be broken.
Vijay said a “Tamil Nadu Citizen Privilege Card”, similar to Aadhaar, would be issued to every family with household data to help deliver benefits without corruption. He also promised that within six months of forming a government, a “Tamil Nadu Service Right” scheme would be implemented.
He announced plans for a “Vetri Tamil Nadu” super app to provide services such as driving licence, ration card, birth certificate and grievance registration on mobile phones, with action against officials if services are delayed. He also proposed a public participation platform, “myvetrithamilnadu.in”, where people can submit ideas, vote on policy proposals, rate services and monitor budget spending.
On technology and finances, Vijay said Tamil Nadu should become India’s capital for AI and digital technology, including an AI university and AI cities to attract global firms and research labs. He also flagged rising debt, stating the state’s borrowings have crossed Rs 10.5 lakh crore and warned that interest payments reduce resources for education, healthcare and infrastructure.
