Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai on Saturday said the Election Commission should grant permission for actor-politician Vijay to campaign, adding that there should be no second opinion on the matter.
Speaking to reporters in Madurai, Annamalai also referred to a recent film leak issue, saying such incidents should not happen and that a proper inquiry must identify where the leak originated. He urged action against those responsible and appealed to the public to avoid watching leaked copies, asking them to watch films through legitimate channels.
On electioneering, he said law enforcement alone cannot be expected to fully control large crowds, and stressed that both the public and campaign leaders must remain safe. Referring to an incident during a cycle-based outreach where a garland was pulled and Vijay fell, he said safety arrangements are essential.
Annamalai said Vijay should be able to speak during campaigning, noting that after extensive roadshows, he could not even address people in Karaikudi. He added that Vijay is seeking votes for his party and claimed that voters who want to back Vijay are moving towards the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, while commenting on the broader political mood in the state.
