Nagpur: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday claimed that opposition to Rahul Gandhi is intensifying within the Congress, with voices growing louder to replace him from the party’s leadership due to repeated electoral defeats.

Fadnavis said that although Mallikarjun Kharge is the Congress president, key decisions are widely believed to be taken after consultations with former party chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, who is also the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

His remarks came after Rahul Gandhi, speaking at an event in New Delhi, alleged that the RSS and the BJP do not want equality for all and are seeking to undermine the Constitution.

Responding in Nagpur, Fadnavis said Rahul Gandhi lacks political understanding and is focused on protecting his own leadership and political existence. He also alleged that Rahul raises the RSS-BJP issue at intervals to divert public attention from internal conflicts within the Congress.
