BJP national leader Nitin Nabin on Saturday said the AIADMK-led alliance would defeat what he called the “most corrupt” DMK government in the country. He described the election as a contest between corruption and good governance.
Nabin held a roadshow in Sattur constituency in Virudhunagar district to campaign for BJP candidate and state president Nainar Nagendran. Actor Sarathkumar also took part in the campaign.
The roadshow proceeded up to the Mukkurandhal area. On Sattur Main Road, Nabin greeted Christians returning after prayers at a church, waved to them and sought votes; some people brought children to receive his blessings.
Speaking to reporters, Nabin said the alliance was confident of winning 200 constituencies. He also rejected Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s framing of the election as a contest between Tamil Nadu and Delhi, insisting it was instead about governance.
He further said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had initiated steps to enact legislation for women’s reservation, and alleged that Stalin and DMK alliance parties were opposing the move and acting against women’s reservation.
