Former AIADMK leader and ex-Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, who has recently joined the DMK, is contesting as the party’s candidate from the Bodinayakanur (Bodi) constituency in Theni district. Having won the seat three times earlier under the AIADMK banner, he is now focusing on ensuring a DMK victory.

According to the report, party workers involved in election work are already being given payments, including Rs 10,000 each for branch secretaries and Rs 5,000 each for booth committee members.

At a DMK booth committee meeting held at Mela Sokkanathapuram and Sankarapuram, Panneerselvam announced additional incentives that drew a positive response from party cadres.

He said the booth committee in-charge who secures the highest number of votes for the DMK across urban and union polling booths in the Bodi constituency would be awarded Rs 1 lakh. He also indicated that extra rewards would be given if the DMK candidate’s vote count exceeds that of the AIADMK candidate.

Panneerselvam further announced that a city or union secretary who coordinates booth committees and delivers more votes than the AIADMK would receive a five-sovereign gold medal as a prize.
