Chennai: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) on Tuesday said the upcoming Assembly election posed “one question” and urged voters to defeat the DMK.
In a statement, EPS referred to reports from Tiruvallur district that a college student who was alone at home near Meenjur was allegedly targeted by youths said to be under the influence of ganja, sexually assaulted and attacked with an intent to kill. He said the victim was battling for her life and described the news as shocking and painful.
EPS demanded stringent legal action against all those involved in the crime. He alleged that ganja abuse, sexual violence and attempted murder reflected the state of affairs under the DMK government.
He also criticised Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, asking whether the Chief Minister had spoken even a word during his campaign about women’s safety becoming a question mark in Tamil Nadu. EPS said the state did not need a government that lacked accountability.
Reiterating his appeal ahead of the April 23 Assembly election, EPS said that if people wanted Tamil Nadu to “live,” the DMK must be voted out.
