BJP candidate Murugan, contesting from Avinashi constituency, met local representatives in the Annur area on Monday as part of his campaign.
Poultry farm owners told him that egg exports have been affected due to the war situation and sought a cold storage facility in the region. They also demanded free electricity for poultry farms and incentives for maize cultivation.
Addressing reporters, Murugan said a cold storage facility would be set up in the Annur belt and that infrastructure would be created to enable direct exports of Nendran bananas and eggs from the region. He added that steps would be taken to provide a remunerative minimum support price and incentives for maize.
Murugan said that once the NDA wins, efforts would be made to start Navodaya schools in Tamil Nadu. He also alleged that the Coimbatore airport expansion has been delayed because the state government has not acquired and handed over land even though the Union government has allocated funds.
He further said the Coimbatore Metro plan up to Ganesapuram should be extended by another 8 km to Annur, and claimed the defence corridor has not been fully implemented in Tamil Nadu due to lack of cooperation from the DMK government. He also promised an underground drainage project in Avinashi and said he would work to secure a GI tag for groundnuts from Sevur.
