Nashik police have arrested multiple accused after complaints that women employees at a BPO office in Nashik were allegedly pressured to follow Islamic practices and subjected to sexual harassment. The action followed a covert operation carried out inside the workplace, according to the police.

The case began with a complaint received in February from a young Hindu woman working at the BPO, stating she was being forced to change her religious practices. Police said they also received indications that several other women employees were affected.

Investigators then deployed women police officers undercover for about a month, posing as housekeeping staff to observe daily operations and focus on senior personnel. Based on the surveillance, police said the initial allegations were corroborated.

In March, the first FIR was registered at Deolali police station on a complaint against Danish Shaikh, alleging he hid his marriage, promised to marry the complainant, had a relationship with her, and later tried to alter her religious practices, including asking her to pray daily. Danish Shaikh and Tausif Attar were arrested, and material found on Attar’s phone led to further complaints.

As the probe widened, police said nine FIRs were registered between March 26 and April 3 at Deolali Camp and Mumbai Naka police stations, with most complainants aged 18 to 25. The FIRs include allegations such as insulting remarks about Hindu deities, inappropriate touching, obscene comments, and workplace harassment by named accused, as detailed in the complaints.
