Washington: The United States and Iran are considering restarting peace talks, with two locations said to be under review for the next round.

According to the report, the move comes amid a temporary two-week ceasefire announced after international pressure, following fighting that began on February 28 involving the US and Israel against Iran.

A recent round of talks between Washington and Tehran was held in Pakistan and lasted about 21 hours, but ended without any agreement. After that, the US imposed restrictions on ships travelling through the Strait of Hormuz.

US President Donald Trump has said the US is ready to resume talks if Iran agrees to its demands. With the ceasefire set to end on the 21st, both sides are said to be exploring a new negotiation aimed at reaching a deal to end the war.

While the time and venue have not been finalised, a US official indicated talks could happen as early as tomorrow. Islamabad in Pakistan and Geneva in Switzerland are being considered, with Pakistan expected to continue as the main mediator.
