AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) on Wednesday issued a sharp warning to government officials, saying a change in government would bring consequences for those who do not act neutrally.

Speaking at a campaign meeting in Siddhapudur, Coimbatore, to support alliance candidates contesting in Coimbatore North, Coimbatore South and Singanallur, EPS said he would take legal action “boldly” against officials who, in his view, act with bias.

Without naming him directly, EPS launched a sustained attack on a leader he alleged had shifted from Karur to contest in Coimbatore South. He claimed the person had a record of misleading publicity and urged voters not to be deceived.

EPS also referred to earlier remarks made by Chief Minister M K Stalin about the same leader, and alleged that police had registered false cases against AIADMK members in Karur based on that leader’s statements. He said that if AIADMK returns to power, officials responsible for wrongful case registrations would face strict action.

Reiterating that “the wheel turns,” EPS said officials are paid from public tax money and must follow the law. He warned that those who commit wrongdoing out of loyalty to the ruling party would not be protected, regardless of their position.
