Police in Maharashtra’s Nashik have said their investigation into alleged forced religious conversion at a TCS-run BPO office has revealed claims that women employees were pressured to eat beef and perform namaz.

The case surfaced after complaints in February alleging sexual misconduct at the workplace. During the probe, 12 women aged between 18 and 25 gave statements describing harassment and coercion, police said.

According to investigators, the women alleged that for more than three years they faced sexual harassment through team leaders, inappropriate remarks about their bodies and clothing, and religiously targeted comments. Police also claimed that women were pressured to wear a burqa.

Seven people have already been arrested in the case, and police said a Malaysia-based religious preacher was found to have links to the alleged forced conversion angle. Digital evidence, including seized mobile phones, is being examined.

Meanwhile, police arrested Nida Khan, identified as the company’s human resources head, who had been absconding, officials said.
