At a DMK campaign public meeting in Salem, DMDK general secretary Premalatha made remarks that reportedly left DMK members surprised.

In her speech, she said there was “only one allegation” being heard across Tamil Nadu against Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s administration, citing sexual violence and a “drug culture” as issues she said were seen everywhere.

Premalatha also said she was speaking as a “sister” within the alliance and would raise concerns directly with the Chief Minister if women faced problems. She expressed confidence that measures such as CCTV coverage and a safer environment for women would be ensured.

Calling for unity, she urged women to stand together to protect Tamil Nadu and its Dravidian legacy, invoking historical figures such as Rani of Jhansi and Velu Nachiyar. She further said the alliance would secure a major victory again.

Following the speech, political observers and party members posted comments online, with some suggesting she misspoke while others alleged the remarks were deliberate.
