A Delhi court has directed businessman Robert Vadra, husband of Congress MP Priyanka, to appear in person on May 16 in connection with the Shikohpur land deal case in Haryana.
The case relates to a transaction during the Congress government in Haryana led by then Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. In 2008, Skylight Hospitality Pvt Ltd bought 3.5 acres of land from Onkareshwar Properties for Rs 7.50 crore, when Vadra was a director of the company.
In September 2012, the land was sold to real estate firm DLF for Rs 58 crore, generating substantial profit. The following month, IAS officer Ashok Khemka, then the state’s Director General of Consolidation and Land Records, cancelled the mutation, citing violations of procedures under the state’s consolidation law, triggering a major controversy.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) registered a case and investigated the matter, questioning Vadra for three consecutive days in April last year. In July 2025, the ED filed a chargesheet in a Delhi court, alleging the profits from the land deal led to money laundering and naming Vadra among the accused.
The court has now ordered Vadra and other accused to appear on May 16. The ED is also questioning Vadra in two other matters linked to UK-based arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari and a land deal in Bikaner, Rajasthan.
