AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) on Wednesday criticised Chief Minister M K Stalin over the Lok Sabha constituency delimitation debate, saying the BJP had effectively “exposed” Stalin’s claims.

Speaking at a public meeting on the Palladam–Tiruppur Road, EPS questioned Stalin’s decision to wear black and call for black flags across the state. He said he did not see black flags during his travel and argued that the protest was unnecessary after the Union government’s clarification.

EPS referred to statements in Parliament, saying the Union Home Minister had reiterated that Tamil Nadu’s representation would not be reduced. He claimed an announcement had been made that Tamil Nadu would have 59 Lok Sabha seats and said the state’s share had risen from 7.18% to 7.23%.

In the same speech, EPS also spoke about the history of the women’s reservation proposal, crediting former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for raising the issue early and recalling events around the 1998 attempt. He further criticised senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, alleging that leaders who had held key Union portfolios had failed to deliver for Tamil Nadu.
