New Delhi: Harivansh has been elected Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha for a third consecutive term, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulating him in the House.

With opposition parties not fielding any candidate, Harivansh was returned unopposed. The re-election marks his third straight term in the post.

Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Modi said the repeated mandate reflected the House’s trust in Harivansh and his efforts to bring members together. He added that it was also a recognition of Harivansh’s experience.

The Prime Minister further noted that the authority of the House had strengthened during Harivansh’s tenure, and that the Rajya Sabha’s functioning had become more robust and efficient under his leadership.

Harivansh Narayan Singh has been serving as Deputy Chairman since August 11, 2022. He belongs to the Janata Dal (United) and represents Bihar in the Rajya Sabha.
