Petitions have been filed in the Madras High Court seeking a probe by the Income Tax Department and the Election Commission into alleged concealment and inconsistencies in asset disclosures made in election nomination papers by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay and party candidate Aadhav Arjuna.

Vijay is contesting from two constituencies—Chennai Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East. The petitions point to what they describe as contradictory information in the asset declarations submitted with his nominations.

According to the filings, Vijay declared his assets as Rs 115 crore in the Perambur nomination, while stating Rs 220 crore in the Tiruchirappalli East nomination. A voter from Perambur, identified as Vignesh, has sought a verification of whether the disclosures are complete and accurate.

A separate petition has been moved regarding Villivakkam candidate Aadhav Arjuna. Independent candidate G. Devarajan has alleged that Aadhav Arjuna did not disclose details of assets linked to his wife Daisy, including her directorship in companies cited as having assets worth Rs 117 crore and Rs 123 crore.

The petitioner also said a complaint to the election officer was rejected without proper consideration, and has sought to set aside the officer’s order and direct an inquiry into the alleged non-disclosure.
