TIRUPPUR: Hindu Munnani leader Kadeswara Subramaniam has accused Chief Minister M K Stalin and the DMK leadership of attempting to provoke unrest over the proposed Lok Sabha constituency delimitation bill.

In a statement, he said there was “no issue” with the Union government introducing the bill in Parliament, and argued that if the DMK had objections it should raise them on the floor of the House, noting the party has 39 MPs.

He criticised reported acts such as burning copies of the bill, calling it unlawful and inappropriate for a sitting Chief Minister. He also urged the Election Commission to censure such speeches and actions.

With the Model Code of Conduct in force, he questioned how permission was granted for the protest and suggested that an “abnormal situation” was being created in Tamil Nadu to delay elections.

He further alleged that the DMK opposes legislation providing reservation for women, and claimed the party and its allies were protesting even before the bill was introduced due to fear of electoral defeat. He appealed to the public not to accept what he termed the DMK’s false campaign.
