Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming visit to Tamil Nadu has put DMK leaders in a watchful, uncertain mood, with political circles debating what message his trip may carry.

During the last Lok Sabha election campaign in Coimbatore, Rahul had briefly stopped at a sweets shop, bought a box, and later presented it to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin—an episode that drew attention on social media for days.

This time, after delaying his visit until the final phase of the campaign, Rahul has reportedly agreed to come on Friday. However, he is expected to campaign on his own, with no announcement so far about joint campaigning with the Chief Minister.

Party functionaries on both sides are said to be anxious about whether the two leaders will meet in person. Political observers say Rahul’s current approach is being read as reinforcing talk that the Congress may not be keen on an alliance with the DMK, leaving DMK cadres more tense than Congress leaders.
