Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, a BJP leader, on Wednesday warned that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin was “playing with fire” by politicising the Lok Sabha constituency delimitation issue.
Speaking to reporters in Coimbatore on the sidelines of a discussion organised by FICCI FLO’s women’s wing, Gupta said the bill would be passed in Parliament with a full majority.
She described the women’s reservation bill as a major social reform and a historic step, saying it would ensure political power for women with decision-making authority and strengthen an inclusive democracy.
Gupta also highlighted infrastructure development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, citing highway expansion, railway modernisation and the construction of airports. She said these initiatives were boosting tourism even in smaller cities.
Referring to Coimbatore, she said it was disappointing that a fast-growing industrial city like it did not yet have a metro rail project.
