A petition seeking directions to the Election Commission to halt the release of the film ‘TN 2026’ until the completion of Tamil Nadu Assembly election procedures was withdrawn before the Madras High Court.

The film, featuring director-actor Natraj, recently released its trailer and is said to be based on recent political developments. The plea was filed by M.L. Ravi, advocate and leader of the National People Power Party, requesting that the release be stopped until the election process concluded.

The matter came up before a bench comprising Chief Justice S.A. Dharmadhikari and Justice G. Arul Murugan. During the hearing, the petitioner’s side submitted that the film had already been released in theatres, making the petition not maintainable, and sought permission to withdraw it.

Accepting the request, the court permitted the withdrawal and dismissed the petition. Meanwhile, fans have claimed that certain scenes in the film were made in a manner that mocks actor Vijay.
