Chennai: AIADMK cadres have begun distributing leaflets door-to-door claiming that every family would receive direct benefits worth Rs 60,000 if the party comes to power.
The campaign comes amid competing outreach by the DMK alliance, which is circulating a printed “sample coupon” of Rs 8,000 after the DMK’s election manifesto stated that homemakers would be given an Rs 8,000 coupon if the party wins again.
In response, AIADMK’s leaflet lists a set of promised benefits and savings that it says add up to Rs 60,000 a year. It also includes a handout designed like a Rs 10,000 cheque.
According to the leaflet, the total is calculated from a Rs 10,000 family assistance amount, Rs 2,000 per month for women (Rs 24,000 annually), Rs 3,000 towards a free LPG cylinder, Rs 3,000 for pulses and cooking oil through the ration system, Rs 6,000 in savings via free bus travel, a Rs 2,000 Pongal gift, and a free refrigerator valued at Rs 12,000.
