With the Tamil Nadu Assembly election scheduled for April 23, campaigning has entered its final stretch. The contest is described as a four-cornered fight involving the DMK, AIADMK, TVK and NTK.

According to the report, parties are finding it difficult to predict the outcome because it is unclear which side will be affected by the votes polled by TVK.

In this backdrop, the DMK is said to be working to create a public perception that it has a clear edge. The report claims that survey results attributed to private agencies are being circulated widely on people’s mobile phones.

One such claim being shared projects the DMK-led alliance winning 178 seats. The report also says messages citing surveys by various organisations are being spread, stating the DMK would secure 45% vote share against AIADMK’s 36%, and form the government with a majority.
