AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) on April 18 campaigned in Gopichettipalayam in Erode district, where he launched a sharp attack on former minister K A Sengottaiyan.
Addressing voters, EPS urged support for the party’s “Two Leaves” symbol and said the sitting MLA had not risen on his own but through the work of AIADMK functionaries. He alleged that the MLA’s conduct and violation of party discipline had created a situation where action was inevitable.
EPS also made personal allegations, claiming that Sengottaiyan’s wife and son had once submitted a “disgraceful complaint” at the Secretariat during Jayalalithaa’s tenure, and said he would not elaborate on it given his position. He further said appointing Sengottaiyan as a minister during his own tenure was a mistake.
Accusing Sengottaiyan of drifting towards the DMK, EPS claimed he had attended an event where Stalin and Karunanidhi’s images were displayed and alleged he acted as an “informant”. EPS warned that he had evidence of Sengottaiyan’s actions and said he could “telecast” it, adding that “a change in rule will bring a change in scenes.”
