Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin released a video message claiming that a DMK-led campaign has secured a victory against what he called a “black law” on constituency delimitation. He said the party had anticipated the risk a year ago and began groundwork early to counter it.
Stalin said the effort included coordination meetings with other chief ministers and opposition leaders, and public protests such as hoisting black flags and burning copies of the proposed law. He said the latest mobilisation showed the DMK’s resolve and recalled the party’s earlier phases of agitation.
Thanking those who helped defeat the proposal in Parliament, Stalin said his first gratitude was to the people of Tamil Nadu for standing with him. He also said women played a key role in opposing what he described as an attempt to advance the measure under the guise of women’s reservation.
He credited the unity of INDIA alliance parties and other opposition MPs for making the outcome possible, calling it the beginning of wider setbacks for the BJP. Stalin also attacked AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami and his party, alleging they acted as BJP “agents” and “betrayed” Tamil Nadu’s interests.
Stalin said the DMK’s history includes fighting for reservation through the first constitutional amendment and resisting Hindi imposition, and claimed the party has now similarly protected Tamil Nadu’s rights and representation. He added that the BJP and its allies would face a major defeat in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election.
