TVK leader and actor Vijay has accused the DMK of engaging in what he called “diversion tactics” during the election period, alleging attempts to confuse the public through multiple means. In a statement issued in Chennai, he said such distractions are common during elections and urged people to remain vigilant.
Vijay said Tamil Nadu’s political culture is rooted in secular values and social justice, and claimed “fascist forces” cannot take root in the state. He further argued that the state’s election history shows that “people-opposed” rulers—particularly the DMK—should not be given another chance.
He also alleged that despite the Election Commission’s responsibilities, the DMK government was using certain officials to create pressure and constraints on TVK and its candidates. He cited delays in issuing permissions, last-minute waiting, and alleged cancellations of campaign approvals as examples.
Vijay claimed that misleading media reports were being circulated about permissions and cancellations to confuse voters. He said TVK was not dependent only on traditional road campaigns, and asserted that voluntary, people-driven outreach in support of TVK was spreading across households.
He concluded by saying these tactics would last only until April 21, and predicted that “corrupt forces” and “fascist forces” would be defeated on April 23. He urged the public not to trust “pretenders” and to stay alert, expressing confidence that TVK would prevail.
