BJP leader and former Tamil Nadu state president K. Annamalai on Saturday launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister M.K. Stalin during a campaign meeting at Kelamangalam in Krishnagiri district.

Annamalai alleged that crimes against women have risen over the past five years and said a government’s primary duty is to ensure safety for lives and property before speaking about development. He claimed law and order in the state has been “damaged” and warned that without change now, there may never be change.

Questioning the Chief Minister’s understanding of farmers’ issues and water management, Annamalai said Stalin had spent five years in office without addressing these concerns. He also made a jibe suggesting the Chief Minister would not even be able to answer a basic question about where milk comes from in a cow.

Turning to the Thali constituency, which he referred to as “Little England,” Annamalai accused the sitting Communist MLA Ramachandran of holding the area back. He alleged the MLA faces multiple criminal cases, including two murder cases and four attempted murder cases, and claimed the MLA’s nomination papers list several pages of cases.

Annamalai further alleged that the DMK submits incorrect detailed project reports to the Union government to prevent development. He said that if there is a change in government, his party would take up projects such as the Hosur airport and metro expansion by engaging with the Centre.
