An audio clip purportedly featuring a DMK functionary has stirred discussion within the party’s ranks in Coimbatore’s Kavundampalayam, where a Congress candidate, Suryaprakash, is contesting as part of the DMK-led alliance.
According to the remarks heard in the clip, DMK workers are questioning why they should bear campaign expenses and organisational work for an ally’s candidate. The speaker alleges that the Congress candidate’s outreach lacks coordination and that there is little information flow on the ground.
The functionary also targets the party’s local leadership, questioning the role of the district and union secretaries and warning that a “one-man show” approach could lead to decline. The audio suggests growing frustration over what the speaker calls a fall in standards and accountability.
In a pointed challenge, the speaker says the leadership should prove its strength by ensuring a win in Kavundampalayam, adding that he would quit politics if they succeed. He further claims that if the seat is lost, those responsible should not continue in Coimbatore district politics.
The clip has since become a talking point among party circles, with the comments adding to the buzz around alliance campaigning in the constituency.
