New Delhi: An advisory meeting of the INDIA alliance was held at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence to discuss issues including the women’s reservation bill and constituency delimitation.

According to accounts circulating among Congress leaders, Rahul Gandhi attended the meeting but did not come alone. He reportedly arrived with his pet dog, a Jack Russell Terrier named “Pidi”.

While the discussions were underway, the dog was said to be playing on the lawn outside. Participants claimed Gandhi’s attention frequently shifted towards the lawn, and he later asked his security staff to bring the dog inside.

When some questioned the need for a dog in the meeting area, Gandhi reportedly stepped out to play with the pet, spoke about it to others, and left shortly thereafter. The meeting, meanwhile, saw Kharge discuss and decide with alliance leaders on how opposition parties should function in Parliament.

A remark attributed to a Congress member that the dog was Gandhi’s “pastime” was met with another quip that politics itself was his pastime, drawing laughter from those present.
