Congress leader Rahul Gandhi campaigned on Friday in support of the party’s candidates contesting from Ponneri, Sholingur and Thuraiyur.

During the campaign meeting at Ponneri, Rahul did not mention Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin by name, according to reports from the event.

A similar pattern was noted earlier this month during a campaign programme in Puducherry on April 6, where Rahul and Stalin did not share the stage and Rahul did not refer to Stalin in his speech.

However, at the subsequent meeting in Sholingur, Rahul did mention Stalin, saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may be able to “control” US President Donald Trump, but cannot “control” Stalin.

Rahul is scheduled to visit Tamil Nadu again on Sunday for a day-long whirlwind campaign across the southern districts, amid questions on whether he and the Chief Minister will campaign together.
