Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is set to address an election campaign public meeting in Krishnagiri district on Saturday at 4 pm, backing DMK and alliance candidates in Uthangarai, Bargur, Krishnagiri, Veppanahalli, Hosur and Thalli constituencies.
Preparations were initially under way near the Gopasandiram Dakshina Tirupati temple in the Veppanahalli Assembly segment, where a stage was being arranged for the event.
However, the venue has now been shifted to a vacant ground near the Anthivadi sports ground in Hosur. Sources said Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge is also expected to take part in the meeting.
DMK functionaries said the change was made as people from Hosur would otherwise have to travel more than 25 km to reach the earlier venue. They also cited a long-discussed local “sentiment” that the DMK has not formed the government in years when Stalin campaigned in the Hosur region, and said the shift was aimed at breaking that perception.
