With the Assembly election scheduled for April 23, TVK leader Vijay has appealed to voters to support the party’s whistle symbol. Party members have circulated the message through an animation video.

The video has reportedly energised a group of boys who are not yet 18. Curious about how they could vote for Vijay, they began asking friends and local party functionaries for guidance.

They were told that voters receive “booth slips” from the Election Commission, prompting the boys to contact booth-level officials in person and over phone to demand the slips.

Polling officials have been explaining that booth slips are issued only to those who have a voter ID and are listed on the electoral roll. When the boys ask for voter IDs instead, officials tell them registration requires completing 18 years and that the deadline for inclusion has already passed.

The boys, reportedly annoyed, end calls after quoting a dialogue on voting rights from Vijay’s film Sarkar.
