Residents of Neduganeenthal village in the Tiruchuzhi Assembly segment of Virudhunagar district confronted Minister Thangam Thenarasu when he arrived to seek votes, creating unease among local DMK workers.

Thenarasu, who is seeking re-election from Tiruchuzhi, visited the village near Narikudi as part of his campaign. Youth and members of the public gathered around him and raised a series of questions about local issues.

They alleged that no meaningful work had been carried out over the past five years, and said he had come only to ask for votes. The crowd cited the lack of proper road facilities for years, a bridge that was demolished and left incomplete, and a drinking-water tank they said was dirty even as residents continued to consume the water.

When a nearby DMK functionary attempted to intervene, residents insisted on being allowed to speak and demanded answers. However, the minister did not respond and left in his car.

Angered by the episode, residents tore up what they described as fake coupons for ₹8,000 that were distributed during campaigning, and shouted that they would not vote for the DMK. They also questioned how someone who could not stand for five minutes to hear grievances could “take care” of them for the next five years.
