Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai on Sunday said public anger against the DMK is “starting to emerge” and claimed voters want the ruling party defeated. He made the remarks while campaigning in Mylapore in support of BJP candidate Tamilisai Soundararajan.
Addressing the gathering, Annamalai said he has seen a “big change” on the ground over the past two weeks and asserted that a strong wave is forming in favour of the NDA alliance. He claimed that in southern Tamil Nadu, the Kongu belt and the delta region, anger against the DMK is increasingly visible.
He alleged that women would vote against the DMK–Congress alliance over its stand on a reservation-related bill in Parliament. He also raised concerns about drug circulation and said law and order must be set right, while predicting a major victory for NDA candidates on April 23.
Earlier, speaking to reporters in Thanjavur, Annamalai referred to promises made by actor Vijay and said an estimate had put the cost at Rs 4.83 lakh crore, compared to Tamil Nadu’s budget of about Rs 4.50 lakh crore. He said voters should weigh such promises and consider the impact of rising debt, noting that the Supreme Court is examining how to distinguish between freebies and essential welfare measures.
