AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) on Tuesday, during the final phase of Assembly election campaigning in Salem, thanked Premalatha for “campaigning for us” even while being in the DMK alliance. He said, “Truth never sleeps.”
Addressing the public meeting, EPS framed the election as a contest between the people of Tamil Nadu and what he described as “family rule” and “dynastic politics.” He urged voters to bring that system to an end, and alleged that the election would mark a political “closure” for the Karunanidhi family.
Referring to a recently released audio involving A. Raja, EPS said the remarks claimed M.K. Stalin had kept M. Karunanidhi under “house arrest” when his health was poor. He questioned why Stalin was angry, arguing that if the statement was untrue, the party should have condemned the speaker.
EPS also levelled allegations of organ-related malpractice under the DMK government, citing claims of irregular kidney removal at a hospital involving a DMK MLA, and an incident in Kumarapalayam where a woman’s liver was removed instead of a kidney. He asked whether such a government was needed.
Predicting the outcome, EPS said the DMK would not even win 20 seats, while the AIADMK alliance would secure 210 constituencies and form a government with a clear majority. He promised that within three months of taking office, drugs would be eradicated, and announced that ₹10,000 would be deposited as assistance to people affected by tax burden, and that women heads of families would receive ₹2,000 per month under an AIADMK government.
