Actor and political leader Kamal Haasan has described Chief Minister M.K. Stalin as a “guardian of federalism”, in a video message released in Chennai.

Speaking as “a Tamil who lives in Tamil Nadu and thinks in Tamil”, Kamal said the election is a choice between moving forward or going backward, and framed it as a contest between the South and the North.

He argued that the vote will decide whether key decisions about Tamil Nadu’s future are taken in Chennai or dictated from Delhi. Kamal also claimed that schemes introduced over the past five years have helped the state lead across sectors, and said the “Dravidian model” government shows Stalin deserves another term.

Recalling leaders such as Periyar, C.N. Annadurai and M. Karunanidhi, Kamal said their eras differed but their call was the same—that Tamil and Tamil Nadu would never bow. He urged voters to ensure welfare schemes continue and asked them to vote for the DMK symbol, cautioning against casting votes based on momentary emotion.
