Officials from the election flying squad seized cash worth Rs 13.40 lakh from the Karaikudi office of Congress MP Karthi Chidambaram in Sivaganga district.
According to the report, the money was allegedly kept stored at the office. During the operation, two persons present at the spot snatched the cash from officials and fled, it said.
When Karthi Chidambaram was later approached by reporters while he was meeting people and seeking votes, he was asked about the seizure from his office.
He responded in a dismissive manner, saying he did not have any money and that he would accept it if someone offered, before leaving without further comment.
