India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to depart for Germany today on a three-day official visit, the Defence Ministry said.
During the trip, Singh will meet Germany’s Defence Minister Boris Pistorius and other key leaders. The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening military-to-military engagement and expanding defence industrial partnerships.
The ministry said the talks will also cover opportunities in emerging areas such as cyber security, artificial intelligence and drone technologies.
Agreements may be signed during the visit, including a draft roadmap for defence cooperation and arrangements linked to UN peacekeeping training collaboration.
Singh is also expected to hold important consultations with Pistorius on a major government-to-government contract related to the supply of six advanced submarines for the Indian Navy. The visit follows Pistorius’ trip to India in June 2023 and is being seen as a significant step in bilateral defence relations.
